When I was in Elementary School, I loved Valentine's Day. I remember carefully writing out the names of my classmates from the list provided by my teacher and being so excited to deposit each little envelope in its owner's 'mailbox'. I can't remember ever receiving a Secret Admirer Valentine, but I do remember sending one! Can't honestly remember who it was to, but I remember the silly rush of putting it in his bag and wondering if he'd know who it was from. What a goofball I was. :)

For my photo today I dug out my Valentines from 1st grade, which would have been 1985, I think. The thing in the middle is my little decorated lunch sack 'mailbox'. I remember that my mom used to let me order Valentines from the Current catalog, and I loved to pore over it and choose my cards for the year--what a treat that was!

Hope you all have a wonderful day with those you love!

  2. Wow, all the way back to 1985. How fun that you have hung onto those. My first grade would have been 1970, so I guess mine would be vintage now, but sadly I do not have them from that looooong ago.

Wow! I can't believe you saved those. Y'know, if you keep those long enough, eventually, they'll be considered "vintage valentines"!

  5. I think I passed out the Snoopy ones in second grade. The Rainbow Brite one is probably considered "retro". It's cool that you still have these. I think sometimes of saving a few...

    The pink heels are fabulous!

  6. I blogged about my Elementary School Valentine Memories today too. I have my cards too, but they are packed away and out of sight. I need to get them out! Oh, yes, and the fact that you were in FIRST GRADE the year AFTER I graduated from HIGH SCHOOL is making me feel ancient.

  9. Too cute! You give me ideas of what would be fun to hang on to for my girls. Never thought of hanging on to these things myself, but now I'm jealous. Such fun. Thanks for Sharing.

  10. Awww, the sweet memories you've stirred. I often romantized about my crushes specially hand picking my Valentine's and REALLY meaning what was on the front (I heart you, be mine..LOL). I just knew they really meant it!

I was in 10th grade when you were in first!! LOL
