This, my friends, is what obsession looks like:

That would be 30 tubes of Mentholatum Natural Ice, the only lip balm that I will use. I can't buy it around here anymore--believe me, I looked in every store in a 10-mile radius and came up with nothing. I read a rumor somewhere online that it is discontinued, a fact (if it is true) that is enough to send me alternately into full-body convulsions and screaming, crying fits. Folks, I am SERIOUS about my lip balm. I did find an online drugstore that sells it in boxes of 15 and I bought two. I need to do more investigating to see if that ugly rumor is true and if so, I need to order every tube I can get my shaking little hands on. Seriously. If the Apocalypse comes and I don't have any Mentholatum, I'm going to wish I was dead anyway.
In other, not so obsessive news, I finished the glittered eggs and will post a pic soon. They're pretty but I still think they'd be really great in pastels. Next, it's on to stacks of glittered boxes. Shortly after, I'll be glittering anything that will stand still long enough for me to slap some glue on with a paintbrush.
Are
these not the cutest skirts? I found this link via
Petula Darling and now I am quite sure that I
need the red and white scherenschnitte skirt, the red and white toadstool skirt and the green apple skirt and the red and yellow tulip skirt as well. Oh my gosh, those are cute. Wow. I luuurrrrve them.
And because this thread needs another picture, Gratuitous Cute Kid Photo Alert!

This is Maren enjoying the spring sunshine when we were visiting my folks a few weeks ago. I love her big movie star sunglasses. So glamorous!
OK, I love you. Ben is exactly the same way with Burts Bees lip balm. We have at least 5 or 6 of them floating around the house open at any given time, and several more unopened in a drawer. I am so sorry the future of natural ice may be in question.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see the glitter eggs.
And also, Maren is a freaking CUTE girl. We need to get together with you the next time you're in town. It's been too long.
My grandmother wore this funky lipstick when she was younger. It was an ungodly shade of green, but when you put it on, it changed to a pinky/rosey/mauvey color based on your skin tone and the warmth of your skin. In the 1970's she ordered boxes and boxes of it. She kept it in the freezer and only recently ran out of it after 30 years.
ReplyDeleteI still moun for my Soft Sense hand lotion and Shield bat soap. Why, oh why do they quit making the good stuff????
Oh I feel your pain on the lip balm. We are obsessed with the Mentadent Crystal Ice flavor. I believe it too is discontinued. However, I suspect our local Wal-Mart has a case in the back that they put out 6 at a time from. It's just this ONE Wal Mart I can find them at. And there's always six. I think I have thirty six cases of two in the basement, and I just keep buying more. I can't imagine what we'll do when that case runs out. And for the record, at least your lip balm is "easily" stored. We are running into some "space" issues. But yeah, it's ALL cause of that toothpaste. Right?
ReplyDeleteLike Elaine from Seinfeld with the Today sponge...you'll soon have a closet full. :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful collection of balm! I hope they continue to make it for you. I always hate to lose a product I love. And Maren in her diva movie star sunglasses is too cute!
ReplyDeleteLOL! And I thought I was obsessive! (okay so maybe I am, it's why we get along so well.) I totally stock up on stuff which leads DH to get on me about being a pack rat. Personally I prefer the term Magpie but whatever. ;)
ReplyDeleteThat Maren is a rock star!
"Shortly after, I'll be glittering anything that will stand still long enough for me to slap some glue on with a paintbrush."
ReplyDeleteGlad to know that Maren is safe from being glittered! LOL
I'll keep my eyes out for that lip balm. I have used it before and I also liked it.I have never liked Chap-Stick brand so I know what it is to be picky!
Cute sunglasses!
ReplyDeleteI'm a lip balm fanatic too. Totally.understand. Except I switched to Aquaphor (yes, I said Aquaphor) ;) after my second child, and I love it. But I admit, I'm still a sucker for the Savannah Bee Company's Mint Julep Lip Balm, which Bath & Body Works recently discontinued. But I was thrilled to find it on their own website!
I think we may have been separated at birth! I thought I was the only one that obsessed with my lip gloss. I had the same problem about 10 years ago when my brand was discontinued. I stocked up on every tube I could find but eventually I had to switch brands. When my next brand was discontinued I tried to give up using gloss altogether but I ended up with horrible fever blisters. So now I've at least been able to switch to a chapstick variety that better not be discontinued any time soon! I actually sleep with a tube of it under my pillow at night!
ReplyDeleteI feel the same way about my Burts Bees lip balm... I recently bought a different version of Burts Bees stuff...the pomegranite flavor...and its not as good as the original! I would totally stock up on the original if i thought it were going away! No shame in that!
ReplyDelete"Q: Where can I purchase Natural Ice lip balm?
ReplyDeleteA: Unfortunately the Natural Ice line has recently been discontinued and is in limited distribution. Stock of Natural Ice Cherry, Strawberry and Vanilla is currently available at most Bargain Shop stores."
