Random Wednesday stuff

Quick...hop on over to Wendy's blog to enter her giveaway to win three gorgeous sparkly glittered pumpkins! I want that silver one, so my name's in the hat for sure! :)

And while I'm being bossy, can I just request that if any of you blog readers out there have one of those fancy schmancy Nielsen boxes that measures TV ratings, will you pretty please with a cherry on top start watching Pushing Daisies?

It's my favorite TV show since Arrested Development got unceremoniously yanked off the air, and I'm afraid it may meet a similar fate if ratings don't improve soon. Pushing Daisies is sweet, romantic, funny and quirky. It's like some writers took a cross-section of my brain and all the things I love and made a whole TV show around it: bright, saturated colors, pie, a love for puns, the dulcet tones of Jim Dale, Swoosie Kurtz, Kristin Chenoweth, and a decidedly 1950s fashion sensibility. The sets and costuming are visually stunning and Lee Pace isn't so bad to look at either. ;)

Fried green tomatoes, anyone? I mentioned last week that I had to go pull the remaining tomatoes in my garden before we had our first hard freeze. Now, that is a child's wheelbarrow but I still think that's a pretty amazing pile of green tomatoes, especially when you consider that I had approximately one dozen actually turn red over the course of the summer. That's right, a dozen. This year was terrible for tomatoes in Colorado so it wasn't just me, but it's not quite the harvest I had envisioned when I planted my garden in June. Can you imagine if they'd all turned red? I'd have tomatoes coming out of my ears! I need to go through the green ones to see if there are any that can be ripened. Otherwise, I'll be Googling recipes for green tomato relish!

And one last silly thing for today:

  1. Except for the part about your green tomatoes, this whole thing could have been written by me! Are you in my head today?

I adore adore adore Pushing Daisies. What's NOT to love about it? I want to bake pies and watch it every week.

I was totally into A-Ha years ago. This video was very funny.

I love to read your blog. Up until now, I've just been lurking (sorry). Today was just too perfect for me not to comment.

    Thanks!

  2. We don't have a Neilsen box, but we watch Pushing Daisies. It is so wonderful to watch - if only for he sets and the artfulness of it. I love it. I am trying to institute "Pie for Dinner" night on Wednesdays. Sounds good to me!

We didn't have any tomatoes to speak of this year either. The grape tomatoes did well, but we only got a handful every other day or so and I pretty much stood in the garden and ate them as I picked them. ;o)

  3. Ah, Heidi, so glad to meet another PD fan! I LOVE that show, and couldn't wait for it to get back. All those things you mentioned about it thrill me, and so add to it's charm. It's unlike anything else on TV...Please don't tell me it's ratings aren't doing well....and Jared and I too miss Arr. Dev. If you want a fun trip sometime go rent them on DVD and watch the series through. Too hilarious!

  5. Pushing Daisies is total love! I fell for it as soon as I saw previews for it LAST year & was so worried with the freakin strike that it might meet an untimely death. SO glad it's back but still holding back because Im afraid it will be yanked & just break my heart.

  8. I was very excited when Pushing Daisys came back on the air but I have to admit I haven't kept up as much this year as I did last year. I don't know what is different? But I have one in the Tivo to watch and one one tonight and I'll be right as rain. That pie maker is so cute!

Sorry I haven't visited in forever, I haven't had as much play time on the computer as I would like. But now I'm back!

    hugs

pushing daisies...the colors, the stories, chuck's outfits/lipstick/hairstyles, the beehives, the pie hole, ned's yearning glances toward chuck, emerson cod's knitted sweater vests....what's not to love?
