Winter white?

This is my front door as of about 2 hours ago. Hard to tell from the lack of depth, but those are 12"+ drifts up agains the side of the house. We are on the tail end of a blizzard, folks, with a National Weather Service Blizzard Warning and everything! The news folks have been warning us for 2 days now about this storm and they were right. The storm hit during the night and made the morning commute a disaster. I think the roads through the mountains are still closed, in fact. Lucky for me, my morning commute is from my bedroom to the kitchen! I would have liked to go to the grocery store today as we're out of bread and nearly out of milk, but even if I wanted to venture out onto the wet, slushy roads, the Air Force Base where the commissary is located is shut down due to weather. Okay, then, I'll just be staying here. Quin is hoping to fly in from Salt Lake City this evening but we'll have to keep an eye on the flights; many were cancelled or delayed this morning during the worst of the storm. For now, it has stopped snowing and blowing, leaving us with 7" of wet, heavy snow to deal with. Yuck.

  1. It sounds like you aren't fond of it, but it is beautiful! We hardly ever see snow here anymore. Jack and I have a tradition of sorts, we always have french toast when it snows!

  3. Wow and people think that we get tons of snow and cold temps where I live (Alberta). We haven't seen anything like that yet. Just a couple of light dusings in the morn that are gone by lunch. Bad weather be it rain or snow always makes me want ot stay in and craft or bake.

  4. I actually like the snow, and I'm used to it, having lived in Utah and Colorado for most of my life. I am just opposed to it in October! Wait until winter, already! No horning in on autumn's turf! :)

  5. I hear ya on the fall thing. Even here in MO it is more like already winter than fall. (I was just moaning about it today actually!) I wanted to let you know I answered your questions on my own blog in the comments section, in case you wouldn't check there.

  6. I can't believe it is snowing. I know most of the country is usually warm when we are being rained on but today was so mild. It is strange to think of it snowing. It looks beautiful though.

  7. Well, I've grown up in Southern California and the Arizona desert all my life, so I do not pretend to know anything about snow. It must be such a mixed blessing...so beautiful to look at, and perhaps play in, but no fun to get around in! Thanks for sharing what is happening in other parts of our country.

  8. Brrrr! We got about 3/4" but it was gone by morning. Took Jimmy out to check out his "first" snow, but he thought I was the dumbest human being EVER! LOL!
